Liverpool U-23s Not Disappointing in FA Cup

Liverpool fielded their U-23 players when diving FA Cup fourth round replay against Shrewsbury at Anfield on Wednesday (05/02/2020) early morning Western Indonesian Time. “We play like the Liverpool first team,” said Liverpool U-23 coach Neil Critchley as reported by the BBC. 

According to Critchley, the users are so focused and look slick. Especially before the match, Liverpool’s first-team coach, Jurgen Klopp also provided motivation. 

“From the first whistle of the match, they showed great maturity and play. They deserved to win,” said Critchley. 

The average Liverpool player who competed in the match was 19 years 102 days. This early morning match was the biggest and most prestigious match they had ever participated in. 

Moreover, the FA Cup match took place at Anfield Stadium and witnessed by more than 53 thousand spectators. Of course, the whole world knows, Anfield is a stadium with no atmosphere. The young players were judged as not awkward. 

“Tonight we will remember for a long time. To play at Anfield and in front of that many people, of course, it was a special night for them,” said Critchley. 

Critchley hopes, Liverpool’s young players will continue to grow and not quickly complacent. Liverpool itself will next face an uneasy opponent, Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup in early March. 

“Our goal is to win the FA Cup, hopefully, later our young players will be given another chance,” he concluded.
