DBasia.news – Liverpool are currently using New Balance apparels until the end of July 2020. The Reds are rumored to be using Nike’s new apparel as of August 1st.
Liverpool entered into a partnership with Nike in early 2020. The apparel sponsor from the United States replaced New Balance who has been a supplier for the Merseyside club jersey since 2015.
Nike reportedly pays 80 million a year for a long-term contract with the Reds. This is the highest value for an apparel sponsor in the English League.
Nike was initially able to supply the Liverpool jersey on June 1st or after the end of the 2019/2020 season competition. However, the Coronavirus pandemic has stopped the competition since March and the game schedule has been delayed and has only begun on June 17th.
As a result, Liverpool extended the contract to use the New Balance sponsor until the end of July 2020 and will only use Nike apparel starting on August 1st. It was announced by the club on their official page on Monday (1/6/2020).
“It has been agreed with New Balance, the club, and the new jersey supplier Nike that the contract agreement, which will expire on May 31st, 2020, will be extended as the Premier League is suspended due to COVID-19,” Liverpool official statement said.
With this agreement, Liverpool will most likely still be wearing a New Balance jersey when the club secure the Premier League title this season. The Reds only need two more wins to ensure themselves as the league champion.
