DBasia.news – Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp revealed the reason behind PSG’s success. According to Klopp, The Reds success was closely related to exploiting Neymar.
Liverpool defeated PSG in the Matchday 1 of 2018-2019 Champions League. Mohamed Salah and friends won dramatically with a 2-1 score.
Playing in front of their supporters, Liverpool started the domination with Daniel Sturridge (30′) and James Milner (36′). However, PSG balanced the situation thanks to Thomas Meunier (40′) and Kylian Mbappe (83′).
Luckily, Liverpool sealed the victory in the last minute. Roberto Firmino who came as the substitute player wrote his name on the scoreboard until the match ended.
Throughout the match, Neymar could be the attack creator of PSG. Unfortunately, Brasil national team captain seemed useless attacked by Liverpool.
Klopp admitted that Liverpool attacked from Neymar’s position in purpose. The Germany manager knew that Neymar isn’t good at defending.

“We changed the system because we expected a change from them,” Klopp told BT Sport.
“Neymar on the left was not a bad idea and makes defending more difficult, we needed more focus and we felt we did really well. Neymar is a world class player, but not a defender so we tried to do that.”
“We covered a lot of yards and closed gaps. When we had the ball we used the right wing,” Klopp added.
PSG winning made Liverpool stay in the first rank of Group C temporary standing of 2018-2019 Champions League. The Reds are the only team with three points.
