Liverpool’s Reason to Get Alisson

DBasia.news – Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, revealed the reason for getting Alisson from AS Roma. According to Klopp, this is due to the price tags for the other goalkeeper are much more expensive.

The goalkeeper position is Liverpool’s main priority in the 2018 summer transfer market. Moreover, the second goalkeeper of The Reds, Simon Mignolet, and Loris Karius, performed inconsistently.

This situation made them related to some names, including Alisson and Jan Oblak. From the two names, Liverpool chose Alisson.

Alisson came with the highest record of Liverpool spending. The Reds spent 72,5 million euro (Rp1,21 trillion) to purchase the Brasilian goalkeeper.

Besides, this is the most expensive transfer fee for a goalkeeper. Previously, the most expensive goalkeeper was achieved by Gianluigi Buffon purchased by Juventus from Parma on 2001.

However, Klopp thought Alisson’s price tag was a bit affordable. Somehow, Liverpool’s other target, Oblak, was much more expensive.

“Everybody thinks it’s a lot of money. It is a lot of money, but he could’ve left for crazy money. The clause for Oblak, for example, is €100m (£89m), so nice!” Klopp told ESPN FC.

“The goalkeeper market is different because it’s not each year that there is anybody available. We didn’t know exactly if Alisson is available or not.”

“But from a specific moment, we realized obviously he is available and that’s the moment when we decided we want to go for him,” Jurgen Klopp continued.
