DBasia.news – The Italian economist, Luca Pagni, stated that the huge loss suffered by AC Milan in the 2018-2019 season were part of Eliott Management’s strategy to sell the Rossoneri.
In a financial statement released by the club, AC Milan confirmed a loss of 145.9 million euros. That amount is up 16 percent compared to the previous season.
Which has made AC Milan lose 20 million euros between the 2018-2019 season and 2017-2018. This amount is the largest in the history of the club.
AC Milan’s spending on loaning their own players has been quite large. Examples are Gonzalo Higuain, loaned for 10.2 million euros and Tiemoue Bakayoko for 2.9 million euros.
However, Luca Pagni who is an economist at La Repubblica thinks that the loss is still reasonable. The amount is part of AC Milan’s sales strategy.
“Seeing the situation, Elliott Management is trying to set up a financial balance sheet. If AC Milan enters the Champions League, they will receive 39 million euros,” said Luca Pagni.
“Everything can change with that and AC Milan can make a conservative balance sheet. However, in this situation, they decided to throw away all the burdens at once.”
“To be honest, I am surprised Elliott Management has just done it now. However, I am sure they will sell AC Milan in the near future. This amount is to attract buyers,” he continued.
Despite heavy losses, AC Milan officials did not seemed bothered. They instead Il Diavolo Rosso had no obligation to sell players in the 2020 winter transfer market.
