DBasia.news – Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Brnabic, was furious at Real Madrid striker, Luka Jovic, for leaving the corona virus quarantine and returning to Belgrade, Serbia. According to Brnabic, Jovic’s actions did not show a good example.
Luka Jovic, 22, was supposed to be in quarantine in Madrid, Spain, due to the increasing corona virus pandemic. Not only Jovic, the entire staff and Real Madrid players have isolated themselves in their respective homes in Spain.
However, from the news published by Marca, Jovic ignored the instructions and returned to Belgrade to celebrate his girlfriend’s birthday. This clearly has the potential to increase transmission of the corona virus in Serbia.
As in Spain there have been 17,000 cases of corona virus and 767 deaths. Serbia does not want to risk the transmission of the Covid-19 virus from people who come from abroad, let alone the country with the highest number of cases.
Brnabic was infuriated by the indifferent attitude shown by the former Eintracht Frankfurt striker.
“We all see negative examples of footballers in our country, who are paid highly, ignoring instructions to isolate themselves and return home,” Brnabic said to the United States.
The return of 45,000 people to Serbia and ignoring quarantine instructions troubled Nebojsa Stefanovic, Serbia’s Interior Minister.
“We have recorded criminal reports to some of these famous athletes. They will respond when the court decides it’s time to call them,” Stefanovic said.
Real Madrid was quarantined after Trey Thompkins, a Real Madrid player, was found positive for the corona virus. Jovic had also previously confirmed permission from his club to return to Serbia.
“Last Thursday, the head of the Real Madrid medical team gave permission to Luka Jovic to return to Serbia (with a personal medical prescription) and to be quarantined at his own home,” expressed Jovic, who explained the permission from the club on Instagram related to the corona virus.
