DBasia.news – Romelu Lukaku doesn’t feel like he’s on the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo. Therefore, he asked the public not to compare himself with the Portuguese superstar.
Lukaku has always competed fiercely with Ronaldo in terms of scoring goals for the last two seasons in Serie A. In the 2021-2022 season, the competition between the two moved to the Premier League.
After returning to Chelsea, Lukaku is favored to win the Premier League’s top scorer title this season. However, his chances dwindled after Manchester United also sent Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.
In the last two seasons in Serie A, Lukaku has always lost to Ronaldo. The Belgian striker certainly doesn’t want the same thing to happen in the Premier League.
Even so, Lukaku has high respect for Ronaldo. He did not even hesitate to praise CR7.
“Never compare myself to Cristiano Ronaldo. For me, he is in the top three in the list of the best players in the history of football,” Lukaku said as quoted by Goal.
“What he has achieved in football today for a player of my generation is something extraordinary. I was lucky enough to play against him in Italy and now he is back in the Premier League.”
“Comparing statistics and all that is pointless,” he added.
Lukaku’s chance to beat Ronaldo in the hunt for the Premier League’s top scorer this season is actually quite open. Moreover, he has opened a goal account with Chelsea.
While Ronaldo still has to adapt back to Manchester United’s style of play. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Sir Alex Ferguson of course have different styles and philosophies.
