DBasia.news – The issue regarding Memphis Depay leaving for Barcelona made Lyon President Jean Michel Aulas angry. Aulas insisted that Depay was not going anywhere.
Barcelona is reportedly eyeing Memphis Depay to strengthen the attack line. The 26-year-old player is prepared to replace Luis Suarez, who is no longer included in the plans of new Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman.
Memphis Depay is no stranger to Koeman. The two of them had worked together in the Dutch national team.
To bring Memphis Depay to Camp Nou, Barcelona prepared a fund of 25 million euros. The Lyon camp is also claimed to have given the green light for this transfer.
The news made Aulas furious. He said that there were no negotiations with Barcelona about Memphis Depay and had no intention of releasing the former Manchester United player.
“If Memphis could have left in August, he’d have to stick with us for the 20/21 season!” said Aulas on his Twitter account as quoted by Sport.
“Contrary to what I read, there are no negotiations with Barca. I believe Lyon are not interested in letting the captain leave after the season he spent at the LFP.”
“Depay wants to leave Lyon, on the doorstep of the exit! What nonsense and cowardice … Lyon has a strategy and wants to have a good season,” he continued.
