Man United and Ajax Reach an Agreement Regarding Transfer of Van de Beek

DBasia.news – Manchester United are getting closer to getting Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek after the two clubs agreed a transfer fee of £40 million.

As reported by BBC Sport and announced by Italian football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano Man United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s direction, agreed to pay a price of 40 million euros plus variables to Ajax Amsterdam for Van de Beek.

“Van de Beek to Man United, here it is! Man United tonight as expected have sent their official offer and Ajax just accepted it without negotiation. An agreement was reached for 40 million euros plus variables. Documents and medical next week,” said Romano.

Indications of the 23-year-old midfielder’s departure can be seen from comments made by Erik ten Hag, the Ajax coach before the announcement of the transfer agreement.

“There are developments (transfers) that make it unselected (in the squad). We’ll see what happens. We will announce as soon as there is clarity,” Ten Hag said last Saturday.

“The fact that Donny is not playing shows the direction. The request not to let him play does not come specifically from one side. We are doing it together. An agreement has been made on a possible transfer and if that possibility arises you must cooperate too.”

An agreement with Ajax has been reached and also with the player, Van de Beek will undergo a medical before signing a contract which reportedly lasts five years (until 2025).

The Ajax academy product will strengthen United’s midfield which already has Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic, and Andreas Pereira. Van de Beek has scored 41 goals in 175 appearances for Ajax’s first team and was the target of Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur.

Apart from wanting to strengthen Man United’s midfield position, the club is reportedly also trying to complete the transfer of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund as well as a central defender.
