Manchester City aims to win and stay away from Liverpool

DBasia.news – The hunt for the 2021-2022 Premier League title is increasingly fierce. Moreover, in Week 26 of the Premier League, Manchester City surprisingly lost 2-3 to Tottenham Hotspur, while Liverpool won 3-1 over Norwich City.

Liverpool have one game remaining to play and if they win they will have 60 points, just three points adrift of Man City at the top of the table. In the end, Man City and Liverpool were again competitors in the race for the league title.

Pep Guardiola is aware that Liverpool are his team’s competitive rivals for the title, as he said some time ago that Liverpool are always there to put pressure on Man City.

No doubt the Spanish manager is targeting 96 points for his team to achieve in the remaining Premier League matches. Guardiola believes 96 points is enough to defend the Premier League title and avoid the pursuit of Liverpool.

“The margin against Liverpool is nothing. We have to win a lot, more than 90 points, 95, 96 (points) to be champions,” Guardiola said as quoted by Marca.

“We can lose, but the way we lose (is important). You can lose in different ways. Many times, when we lose, we lose as a great team and we have to continue in this way.”

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach also stayed calm after the defeat. The most important thing according to Guardiola is how to react to the defeat, something he learned at Barcelona.

“I was born in Barcelona and their academy taught me everything. The best way, even there, is to think things can go wrong,” added Guardiola.

“A warning to myself must be as an individual player or as a team that tomorrow you can go down and lose and lose and lose. That’s the best way to approach the game.”

“We’ve made an incredible run in the Premier League so far and Liverpool are still here. It shows how incredible and challenging our opponents are.”

“We know, of course, we can lose and be bad and drop points, this is not the case, this is how you behave in moments when you lose games.

“We can lose, of course we can lose. Nobody always wins. The important thing is to be there and know we have to win.”

“We have to fight to win the Premier League and, if we want to win, we have to win an incredible number of points against an extraordinary opponent we have faced many times,” said Guardiola.
