Manchester United are still waiting for certainty about the match venue against Real Sociedad

DBasia.news – A number of ESPN sources said Manchester United were still waiting for certainty regarding the place where the Europa League match against Real Sociedad would be held.

United will play the first leg of the top 32 of the Europa League in Spain, February 18, 2021. But until now the Spanish government has not made an exception for elite sports teams to enter the country without first undergoing quarantine according to the COVID-19 protocol.

According to ESPN, Sociedad is still waiting for an answer from the Spanish government and is looking at alternative venues to play the match.

Talks between Spanish clubs, the country’s football association and the Spanish government are still ongoing.

Chelsea’s Champions League trip to Atletico Madrid was also affected. Reportedly, UEFA has chosen stadiums that have a history of holding European level matches.

One of the venues being considered for United’s match is Juventus’ home, the Allianz Arena, in Turin.

If approved it must obtain approval from UEFA and the Italian football association and the quarantine exemptions for United and Sociedad must obtain permission from the Italian government.
