Manchester United Gave  Van de Beek a Second Chance

DBasia.news – Manchester United gave Van de Beek a second chance, the Dutch player was given the opportunity by MU to rekindle his passion for playing with the Manchester United squad, even though his career had already been decided.

Things have not been easy for the 25-year-old player since joining Man United in 2020. The club signed him for five years for a fee that is rumored to be £35 million, plus £5 million in bonuses,  £40 million in total, from Ajax Amsterdam.

Van de Beek is facing tough times for Man United as well as the manager’s switch from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to Ralf Rangnick. Even Manchester United loaned him to Everton in January 2022.

It wasn’t easy there either, as Frank Lampard’s team fought to survive the relegation zone, and did so. But again, Van de Beek is not playing regularly.

The player who became the scourge of Juventus and Real Madrid in the 2019 Champions League has been missing. His confidence dwindled and Van de Beek struggled to find his form again.

The situation was slowly changing at Man United. The club entered a new era with Erik ten Hag, Van de Beek’s former coach at Ajax, and it was like a second chance for Van de Beek.

Two of Ten Hag’s assistant coaches also understand Dutch football culture, namely Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren. The training sessions started at the beginning of July at Carrington and a smile appeared on Van de Beek’s face again.

Positive developments can be seen from the way he practices. In the training session when he made a high-intensity pass, Van de Beek did well and a video went viral of Van der Gaag praising him. “Yes, Donny. Good job, Donny.”

Nearly 30 United players were on the training pitch with Van de Beek, and the new international stars will join their team-mates on July 8. United will travel to Thailand and Australia for a pre-season tour.

It will be put to good use for the players to impress Erik ten Hag, one of whom is Donny van de Beek. Despite being coached by Ten Hag at Ajax, Van de Beek is no exception. There is no ‘golden child’ in the Man United squad.
