DBasia.news – Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes admits that he is glad for Inter Milan to have made Alexis Sanchez permanent. According to Scholes, the transfer is for the good of the Red Devils squad.
Alexis Sanchez decided not to renew his contract at Man United until he left on a free transfer to Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri received the services of a 31-year-old player after borrowing him for a season (2019-20).
This season Sanchez has played 30 times in all competitions with a record of four goals and 10 assists. Despite being injured, Antonio Conte still gave him the confidence to play and Sanchez did not spare him.
As a result, Sanchez, who has been at United since January 2018, has officially joined Inter. The transfer is ideal for all three parties, especially Man United, who no longer have to pay exorbitant salaries which did not match Sanchez’s performance there.
Scholes was relieved to see Sanchez, who scored five goals in 45 matches, move to Inter. According to him, Sanchez’s performance was never the same at United as when he defended Barcelona and Arsenal.
“The sooner they get rid of him (Sanchez) the better,” said Scholes at BT Sport.
“He was very bad for Man United. When Sir Alex (Ferguson) left (in 2013) it was only part of a four or five year spell when club recruiting was very bad and he was part of it.”
“He appeared to be a great player at Arsenal, as well as at his other former club, Barcelona, but for some reason he has not been doing well in Man United.”
Scholes hopes that under the direction of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Man United will no longer recruit careless players.
“I can only be grateful that Ole is coming now to Man United and the recruitment looks like its going in the right direction,” added Scholes.
“Hopefully they will no longer make mistakes like the mistakes Sanchez made during the last four or five years,” he hoped.
