Manchester United questioned for keeping Anthony Martial

DBasia.news – Graeme Souness, a former Liverpool player, said his assessment of Manchester United’s choice to keep Anthony Martial. According to him, Martial is not a player at the level of the Red Devils.

Since signing from AS Monaco in 2015, Anthony Martial’s appearance has had its ups and downs. In fact, last season Martial was loaned to Sevilla.

Now, Erik ten Hag has given Martial a second chance. This is also inseparable from the condition of Manchester United which has not succeeded in bringing in a new striker. Moreover, the future of Cristiano Ronaldo is also still in question.

However, according to Souness, that doesn’t mean Martial needs to be defended. Martial’s journey with the Red Devils is considered over.

“In the case of Man United, they didn’t really bring in a game-changing player. When it comes to Martial, how many chances does that player have to become a Manchester United player?” Souness said on talkSPORT.

So far, Martial has played for Manchester United 269 times. From that opportunity, he packed 79 goals and 50 assists.

“For me, Martial has proven not to be suited for Manchester United. He failed to cope with the pressure of Man United’s play.”

“Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world. They are in the final every time they play,” he added.

For Souness, what happened with Martial is similar to what Paul Pogba went through. Both failed to show their best performance.

“These players are not ready. They are not ready to fight. They are not players who can be relied on until the end. In my opinion, you can’t rely on Martial anymore. He missed too many,” said Souness.
