Mancini’s view of the Italian youth team

DBasia.news – The coach of the Italian national team, Roberto Mancini, gave his take on the performance of the new generation of Gli Azzurri. He said that the Italian national team must develop and minimize mistakes.

Italy appeared with the majority of young players since the first match against Germany. A row of stars such as Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci, Jorginho, Ciro Immobile, to Andrea Belotti were not in the line-up list.

But Italy actually appeared different in this match. Sandro Tonali and his friends were finally able to hold the world champions to a 1-1 draw.

The result actually added to the confidence of the young Italian players. They were able to win 2-1 over Hungary in the second match.

Italy’s positive trend continued when they managed to hold England to a draw at the opponent’s headquarters with a score of 0-0. Reaching five points makes Mancini’s team perched at the top of Group 3 League A standings.

Mancini is certainly satisfied with what his team showed. However, he admits that there are still many shortcomings that need to be addressed.

“We need to improve a lot, especially when we attack. We need to score when we get into the opponent’s box,” Mancini told RAI Sport.

“We missed chances that we could have changed. Sometimes, we made the wrong passes from defence.”

“These are things we shouldn’t be doing, but they’re probably just part of the growth process,” he added.

Of the three games, Italy was able to score three goals and conceded two goals. This record is the best compared to the three rivals in this group.

The toughness of Gianluigi Donnarumma is key to Italy’s goal that has conceded the fewest goals with England. While Lorenzo Pellegrini became the top scorer with a collection of two goals.
