Manganiello Ignores VAR Two Times in Inter-Parma Match

Gianluca Manganiello

DBasia.news – The FC Internazionale pay attention to the performance of the referee Gianluca Manganiello when the team got a 0-1 defeat by Parma at Giuseppe Meazza Stadium last weekend. The I Nerazzurri player criticized Manganiello due to his decision to not point the white spot when Parma defender, Federico Dimarco countered Ivan Perisic’s kick with his hand.

AIA president, Marcello Nicchi, gives his comment regarding the leadership of coach Manganiello. He thinks Manganiello has refused the usage protocol of VAR two times during the match between Inter against Parma.

The first case happened when Dimarco had a handball. Secondly, when Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini made a foul to Parma winger Antonio Di Gaudio at the beginning of the match.

“Video support should’ve been used when the ball touched Dimarco’s hand in the box and then on a foul by Gagliardini, which unfortunately the referee didn’t see. It could’ve been punished with the yellow or red card, but the VAR had to call it,” Nicchi said.

In this opportunity, Nicchi also emphasized that he had no problem if the referee uses the VAR many times within one match. Since the beginning, VAR technology is used to minimize the doubt or wrong decision making of the referee.

“Using VAR more? There is a clear protocol, and nothing has changed since last year,” Nicchi revealed.

“If the referees follow it then fine, but if they’re wrong then not following it is a mistake. The video assistant, on this occasion, made two mistakes by going to review as per protocol,” Nichi added.
