DBasia.news – FC Barcelona is rumored to have prepared a replacement candidate for Ernesto Valverde, the coach who is currently in the spotlight right now.
As the South American and Spanish media believe, Marcelo Gallardo plotted Barcelona to replace Valverde, who had difficulty maximizing the potential in his squad for positive results.
Like in the last two matches, Barcelona, who have Lionel Messi, lost 1-3 to Levante in LaLiga and a goalless draw against Slavia Prague in the Champions League. The negative period followed Barca’s failure last season to retain the Copa del Rey title and win the Champions League.
Valverde has been spoiled by management with quality recruits such as Antoine Griezmann, Frenkie de Jong, Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho (who is now on loan at Bayern Munich).
Management will continue to monitor the situation of Valverde for at least the next few weeks. But according to Claudio Borghi, a former World Cup champion with the Argentine national team and now a soccer commentator, Gallardo will be appointed Barca coach in December 2019.
“Gallardo will be Barcelona’s coach in December.” sure Borghi is short, as reported by the AS.
Known as one of the top coaches in South America, Gallardo has great popularity after giving 10 titles to River Plate, the club he has trained from 2014 to date. While still actively playing, Gallardo also played in Europe with AS Monaco (1999-2003) and PSG (2007-08).
Gallardo is believed not to refuse the chance to train Lionel Messi et al if Barcelona contacts Rodolfo D’Onofrio, owner of River Plate, and the coach wants to leave River Plate.
Permission to coach Barcelona also came from club legend, Rafael Marquez. “I am sure Marcelo has all the experience and knows how important it is to get that role (Barcelona coach),” Marquez added.
Seeing Gallardo training Barcelona is indeed interesting. However, there is no guarantee that Gallardo will succeed in Spain, especially after seeing Gerardo “Tata” Martino, a coach who also came from Argentina, coached Barcelona in just one season (2013-14).
