Marcelo Threatened Absent Until the End of the Season Due to Muscle Problems
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Real Madrid threatened to play without Marcelo in LaLiga this season. The Brazilian player reportedly suffered an injury to the adductor muscle in his left thigh.
Marcelo appeared for 90 minutes in Madrid’s last match when defeated Athletic Bilbao 1-0 (5/7). Even so in the match, he had experienced problems with his left thigh.
After undergoing an examination, it was found that the 32-year-old left back suffered an injury to the adductor muscle in his left thigh. This was revealed by Madrid through the club’s official website.
“Today’s test results for Marcelo by the Real Madrid medical team. He was diagnosed with an adductor muscle injury in his left thigh. The recovery process will continue to be monitored,” Madrid wrote on their official website.
Quoted from Managing Madrid, Marcelo will most likely have to be absent for at least 20 days to recover the injury. That means, he is threatened to miss the remaining four games of Los Blancos in LaLiga this season.
The four matches are Madrid facing Deportivo Alaves (11/7), Granada (14/7), Villarreal (16/7), and Leganes (20/7). Marcelo still has a chance for a comeback when Madrid face Manchester City in the second leg of the Champions League last 16.
Marcelo’s absence is clearly a big loss for Madrid for the rest of the season. El Real coach, Zinedine Zidane practically can only rely on Ferland Mendy in the left back sector as Nacho Fernandez is also injured.
Previously, Mendy and Marcelo were always rotated by Zidane since LaLiga was started rolling back after the Corona virus pandemic. With a busy schedule waiting for Madrid, relying on Mendy is clearly very risky.
Moreover, Madrid must fight to death for the rest of this season for the sake of the LaLiga title. Madrid are now leading the standings with 77 points continued to be followed by Barcelona with only one point adrift.
