Marco Giampaolo has a grudge against AC Milan?

Ahead of the final week of the Italian Serie A, it is reported that Marco Giampaolo resents AC Milan. It could be if he let Inter Milan beat his team Sampdoria, in order to open up the opportunity for Inter to embrace the Scudetto if AC Milan fell from Sassuolo.

That sentiment surfaced considering that Giampaolo was sacked by the Rossoneri. Some people think, Giampaolo may still have a feeling of resentment towards Milan, who at that time did not give him much time to build the team.

In the last week of Serie A, Milan only needed a draw against Sassuolo for the Scudetto, while Inter needed a win over Sampdoria while expecting their eternal rival to really stumble.

When asked if Giampaolo holds a grudge against Milan and could he give Inter a free win? Giampaolo provides an explanation.

“My relationship with Milan has nothing to do with the present,” said Giampaolo.

“I am now at Sampdoria and Milan is doing their part. It [coaching Milan] was not a real opportunity for me, I didn’t have much time there,” he continued.

“Venezia picked up a point against Roma despite being relegated. We beat Fiorentina, who are fighting for a Europa League spot. Results this season prove that these games must be played seriously,” he explained.

“Nothing should be taken for granted because nobody likes to make a bad impression. These games have to be played, and England is a point of reference in this aspect.”

Giampaolo took charge of Milan in June 2019. However, his story at the San Siro was very short, with him receiving a letter of dismissal in October of the same year after winning just three wins and losing four.
