Marco Silva is Worried About Everton’s Center-Back Stock

Marco Silva Khawatir

DBasia.news –  Everton spend a lot of money on spending seven players this summer. However, Marco Silva, the Everton manager, remains worried because of the lack of quantity of central defenders.

Everton spent a total of £ 118.5 million to recruit seven players. The seven players are Jonas Lossl, Djibril Sidibe, Fabian Delph, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Andre Gomes (permanent contract from Barcelona), Moise Kean, and Alex Iwobi.

Silva said he was worried about the number of players at the heart of the Everton defense. After the departure of Phil Jagielka, Ashley Williams, and Matthew Pennington, Everton only had Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate, and Michael Keane, at the center back position.

“First of all, I believe in our three central defenders (Keane, Mina, and Holgate), but this is not the best scenario for us. As I have said, the transfer market is difficult for us,” explained Silva, quoted from the Guardian.

“We have tried to strengthen that position because it is an important position from day one. If you ask me if it is risky then the answer is yes, but this is how it is and we must accept the situation,” he added.

Everton was close to recruiting Marcos Rojo from Manchester United at the close of the summer transfer window. But, Man United changed the deal at the last minute (about the price of the player) until the transfer failed to occur.

Rojo reportedly was upset and angry with United because of the change in attitude. The situation is more complicated for Everton because they can still lose players to other non-English European clubs.
