Marcus Rashford can still be in the England squad

DBasia.news – The England manager has named 28 of its players for the Nations League games against Italy and Germany this September. Marcus Rashford, the Manchester United striker, was again off the list but the Three Lions boss offered hope to the 24-year-old player that he could still feature at the World Cup in November.

“It’s only eight weeks until we will appoint our squad for Qatar so every minute counts,” Southgate told reporters. “He [Rashford] is a player we know well so if he can perform at a high level in the next few weeks he will of course be considered.”

Rashford started the season in some promising form for the Red Devils, scoring 3 times and providing 2 assists in 6 games. The forward is currently sidelined with a minor muscle injury, but Southgate’s words will offer hope he can return to the international squad if he can maintain his early form of the season.

Of the 28 players named in the latest England squad, 27 played in the Premier League, 20 in the Championship, 8 in League One and 4 in League Two.

England will play Italy in the Nations League on 23 September at the San Siro.
