DBasia.news – Rene Meulensteen, former Manchester United assistant manager, is not convinced that Marcus Rashford can match the level of Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, who also played for United.
Marcus Rashford had been Manchester United’s hope when he was younger – like what Cristiano Ronaldo did. Rashford appeared as the spearhead of the Red Devils amid the departure of a number of attackers such as Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.
However, Meulensteen saw, Rashford would not be able to appear like Ronaldo. CR-7 is one of the highest level players in football history.
“I do not judge Marcus Rashford to be the new Cristiano Ronaldo. Because, I think Ronaldo is a talent that only appeared once,” explained Meulensteen as reported by the Mirror
“Ronaldo is one of the greatest players of all time who will be remembered with Pele, Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, Eusebio and Johan Cruyff,” continued the former manager.
“Ronaldo’s instinct is to always try to score beautiful goals. That is also what I see in Rashford. Ronaldo is always trying to find the top corner from 30 yards and win the best goal of the season.”
Meulensteen considers, Rashford imitates Ronaldo’s playing style a lot. He considered, the choice was right.
“In many ways, Ronaldo is unique as he has high confidence. However, I think Rashford has the mindset that I want to be the best player. I believes Rashford has made Ronaldo a role model.” Stated Meulensteen.
Marcus Rashfrod received the spotlight after failing to execute a penalty when meeting Crystal Palace. In fact, in the inaugural match against Chelsea, the British player carried out his duties perfectly.
