Marseille Officially Bringing Yuto Nagatomo from Galatasaray

DBasia.news – Marseille officially brought in Japanese player Yuto Nagatomo, who was obtained on a free transfer from Galatasaray. This was announced by the Marseille club.

The 33-year-old left-back is Marseille’s third signing in the summer transfer market, and will serve as a coating for Jordan Amavi.

“Nagatomo is Olympian,” Marseille announced on social media, calling the player’s strength “a ruthless warrior” and “lightning speed.”

Coach Andre Villas-Boas has previously indicated that Nagatomo will be recruited soon, after he has completed his medical tests.

“He has experience as captain, leader in the dressing room, he speaks seven languages,” said Villas-Boas.

Nagatomo played for seven seasons at Inter Milan (2011 to 2018). He has made 122 caps for Japan, won the Asian Cup in 2011, and appeared in three editions of the World Cup.

Nagatomo is the third Japanese player to wear a Marseille shirt, after Koji Nakata (2005 to 2006) and Hiroki Sakai, who have been at the club since 2016.

Marseille have signed two 21-year-old players, French midfielder Pape Guaye from Watford and Argentina defender Leonardo Balerdi on loan from Borussia Dortmund.

Villas-Boas said Nagatomo’s free signing left Marseille still had money to try to buy a striker.
