Martial Still Receives Solskjaer’s Full Support and Trust

DBasia.news – Anthony Martial received a lot of harsh criticism after Manchester United’s defeat from Sheffield United. However, the French striker still has the full support of the Red Devils manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Martial was accused of being a lazy attacker when competing. It frustrated the Manchester United fans.

The defeat against Sheffield seemed to be used as momentum by supporters to criticize Martial. Some of them were even racist.

Solskjaer realized that one of his attackers was criticized by many. However that did not make him want to rest Martial.

“He (Martial) continues to train so we know how good he is and we know he will do well. He is improving his fitness, he might improve 10-15% from when I came like his running distance and sprints,” said Solskjaer as quoted by the Guardian.

As a former striker, Solskjaer could easily judge Martial’s performance. Moreover, statistics showed a very striking decrease in goal productivity.

Martial has not been able to repeat his slick performance last season when he scored 23 goals in 48 appearances. This season he has only scored five goals in 25 matches.

Even so, Solskjaer still seemed to believe in Martial. Providing full support may be the trick to restore the sharpness of the player.

“Martial talent will always make him develop, I have no doubt. He missed a few chances but it happens to everyone,” he added.

“He only has to be ready when the opportunity arises. For example, in the match (against Arsenal).”
