DBasia.news – Martin Odegaard is reportedly unlikely to make his debut in Arsenal’s match against Manchester United this weekend.
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta stated that Odegaard still needed a lot of adaptations as he did not receive a lot of playing time at his old club.
Arteta stated that during training Odegaard showed his hard work. Even so, Arteta cannot confirm whether his new player will play in the match against Manchester United.
“We have to give it time,” said Arteta as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “He didn’t get a lot of playing time at Real Madrid.
“Will he be able to play? It is still too early to decide that. We will monitor his progress in the training session, then we’ll see what will happen.”
Arteta also explained the reason for borrowing the Norwegian player from Madrid. “He is a player we have been monitoring for some time. We believe he has the special qualities that we need so far,” said Arteta.
Arsenal confirmed the arrival of Martin Odegaard on loan from Madrid for a half season.
It is rumored that Odegaard has long been the target of Arteta. The manager wants an additional creative midfielder in his midfield after he became incompatible with Mesut Ozil.
