Materazzi says Ibrahimovic’s departure is a blessing for Inter Milan

DBasia.news – Marco Materazzi tells the story of Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Inter Milan. The departure of the Swedish striker was considered to be a blessing for ‘helping’ the Nerazzurri to win the Champions League.

Ibrahimovic was with Inter in the 2006-2009 season. At that time, Ibracadabra was sold to Barcelona.

Instead, Inter received Samuel Eto’o from Barcelona. The striker’s exchange seemed to have brought a blessing to Inter, as Eto’o had helped Inter to a great success.

In his first season with Inter, Eto’o only scored 16 goals in 48 appearances. However, the Cameroon striker played an important role in bringing Inter to win treble winners, namely winning the Italian League, Coppa Italia and the Champions League.

Ibrahimovic’s exchange with Eto’o was accepted gratefully by Materazzi. The former Inter defender was glad as with Ibrahimovic gone, Eto’o as his replacement could play an important role in winning three important trophies.

“It’s not true that there’s competition between me and Ibrahimovic,” Materazzi told Argentine media, TNT Sports.

“I will thank him forever, because if he did not hea to Barcelona, Eto’o wouldn’t have came. He helped me win the Champions League,” said the former Italian player.

The fate of Ibrahimovic in Barcelona itself is exactly the opposite of Eto’o. He failed to take first place under coach Pep Guardiola, and was finally loaned a season ago to AC Milan.
