DBasia.news – Erling Haaland is believed to be leaving Borussia Dortmund next summer. This has made Mats Hummels as his teammate react.
Haaland has been wanted by big European clubs since the last few seasons. His high goalscoring instinct and young age are the main attractions.
However, the opportunity to hijack Haaland only opened at the end of the 2021-2022 season. At that time, his sale clause worth 75 million euros will be active.
It is believed that this amount would will not be a problem for a number of wealthy European clubs. Haaland seemed impatient to start his new adventure.
But Hummels gave Haaland a warning. He considered that there was no guarantee the player could achieve success after leaving Dortmund.
“The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. You really have to realize that in football,” Haaland told Sport Bild.
“It’s worth it if you have a good environment, feel comfortable with friends and can also be really successful. You have to respect that because it’s not given at every club.”
Hummels had his reason. In the past, many of the Dortmund stars careers faded after leaving for other clubs.
Names such as Mario Gotze, Shinji Kagawa, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are included in this list. While Hummels also decided to return to Dortmund after briefly moving to Bayern Munich.
Hummels hopes Haaland learns from his predecessors. Therefore, he believes Dortmund still has a chance to keep him.
“I would fully understand if he (Haaland) wants to stay because things are really great at Dortmund and he knows what he has here. I’m far from giving up on seeing him stay here for a long time.”
