Maurizio Sarri Asks His Team to Be More Aggressive

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Juventus coach, Maurizio Sarri, assesses the team’s defense still needs to be improved after a 2-2 draw over Atletico Madrid.

The Old Lady has a great chance to steal full points at Wanda Metropolitano after winning 2-0 first through goals from Juan Cuadrado and Blaise Matuidi. However, the host managed to rise to equalize the score after a header from Stefan Savic and Hector Herrera nested in Juve’s goal.

“This is a big development from the last match and we feel this fight is ours, so the draw has left a bitter taste,” Sarri said.

“Juventus hasn’t scored a goal in this stadium on many occasions when they played and we achieved two goals, plus three or four shots on target. It’s disappointing, because Atletico’s goal came from a predictable situation and we were still not ready.”

“The cliché thing that can be done is to change to man-marking, but I don’t think that makes sense. We have to be more aggressive in the dead ball. Atleti are very good in the air, but the ball is very weak and we are too passive, as it can be cut.

“If we are passive, then we will also be passive with man-marking. I also see a lot of VAR incidents with man-marking that ended in penalties, so that is another area to worry about. We will improve the defense from the dead ball.
