Maurizio Sarri Demands Adaptation from Juventus Players to CR7

Cristiano Ronaldo

DBasia.news –  Maurizio Sarri wants to maximize the potential of Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus. Therefore, he asked the Bianconeri players to adapt to CR7 playing style.

Last season, the 34-year-old scored 28 goals in his first season defending the Bianconeri after nine years in Real Madrid. Ronaldo helped Juventus win their eighth consecutive Scudetto in the last season of Massimiliano Allegri.

Now, the situation will be different under the care of Sarri. The 60-year-old coach once said he wanted to help Ronaldo break a new record this season, changing his role from CR7 to CR9 aka the opponent’s penalty box predator.

Therefore, the former Napoli and Chelsea coach hopes that Juventus players help Ronaldo maximize his potential by adapting to his playing style.

“He (Ronaldo) will be a player who will make a difference for us, so 10 other players must adapt to him,” Sarri said, as quoted by   Sky Sports.

“During the tour (preseason) he will play mostly as a left offensive striker, (I) know very well he likes to move more central to other strikers.”

“As a team, we have to be quick to adapt to his movements because he can make a difference and he will do it, for sure. In the first game, he scored and had several other opportunities,” explained Sarri.

In addition to discussing Ronaldo, Sarri also praised the great talent possessed by a recruit from Ajax Amsterdam, Matthijs de Ligt. Despite praising him, Sarri did not want to disclose to the public the status of the Dutch defender.

“De Ligt is a phenomenal prospect. He is a 19-year-old boy who has been a captain at a club as important as Ajax, so he is an important prospect,” Sarri added.

“I don’t know whether he will stay on the bench or not. If not, on the bench there will be other important defenders like (Leonardo) Bonucci, (Giorgio) Chiellini, and (Daniele) Rugani.”
