Memphis Depay Doubted Can Bring Barcelona Success

DBasia.news – Memphis Depay is the target of Barcelona who is being raised by Ronald Koeman. However, the 26-year-old is doubtful that he will be able to bring the Blaugrana to success.

During his youth, Depay was considered a player who could match the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. He does have individual qualities above average.

Unfortunately he failed to answer public expectations when he strengthened Manchester United in 2015. Instead of sticking out as a star, Depay looks like a mediocre player.

Even so, Depay has managed to rebuild his career since leaving for Olympique Lyon in early 2017. He was even able to bring the French club to the semifinals of the Champions League last season.

Unfortunately the incision was deemed insufficient for Depay to prove his worth to defend a club like Barcelona. One of the doubters is Louis Van Gaal.

Van Gaal certainly knows very well the figure of the former PSV Eindhoven player. He is the person who brought Depay to Manchester United.

“There’s always a question mark. Depay is an interesting player, especially when he’s free to play,” Van Gaal told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“But we have to consider his ability to adapt to new cultures and new teams. The first year is always the most difficult.”

Van Gaal seems to doubt Depay’s mentality in the face of pressure when playing in a big team. Playing at Lyon is of course very different from Barcelona.

But Depay should be given a second chance to prove his quality with a big club. He certainly has learned a lot from his failure at Manchester United.
