DBasia.news – Gonzalo Higuain, who is currently playing in MLS with Inter Miami, claims that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is capable of revolutionizing football in the country.
Messi himself had been linked with Miami and is currently training at the club’s facilities this week with the Argentine national team.
“He’s been training here [in Miami], he knows his place,” Higuain said.
“Leo is like Maradona, he can’t stay carelessly. It’s his decision, but if he comes here, it will cause a tremendous revolution, no doubt,” he assured.
Messi, 35, is out of contract at PSG at the end of the season and is reportedly considering his future after the 2022 World Cup.
The move to MLS is sure to be the biggest transfer for the nation’s league since David Beckham, who also happens to be a part owner of Inter Miami.
Higuain was Messi’s team-mate at the Albiceleste for almost a decade, a period which included the 2010 World Cups, 2014 and 2018, in addition to three Copa America tournaments.
La Pulga and Argentina continue their World Cup preparations with friendly matches in the United States against Honduras (September 23 in Miami) and Jamaica (September 27 at Red Bull Arena).
