DBasia.news – Manchester United superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has been considered by some parties to be lazy to grab the ball and press it to opposing players. However, the news was denied by Michael Carrick.
Manchester United appeared with a slightly different composition when they visited Stamford Bridge last weekend. Carrick played the duo of Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford as spearheads.
Both were assigned to do high pressing with Bruno Fernandes. This strategy proved to have caused difficulty for Chelsea.
Manchester United even took the lead through Sancho’s goal at the start of the second half which began with high pressing. Unfortunately, Chelsea were then able to reply through Jorginho’s penalty.
Ronaldo himself entered in the 64th minute. But the Portuguese superstar was unable to do much and Manchester United were increasingly under pressure in the rest of the game.
The decision to reserve Ronaldo was discussed at length after the match. This left Carrick quite confused.
“Reserving Ronaldo seemed like a big decision, but it’s not right. You can ask Cristiano, the way he responded perfectly,” Carrick told the club’s official website.
“In the changing room, he (Ronaldo) was amazing and supported the players. I came in for a team chats at half-time, whereas he warmed up 10 minutes earlier and was ready to come on in the second half.”
“A lot of things are made into negative news, but behind the scenes the reality is very different,” he added.
It will be interesting to see what Carrick will do when Manchester United hosts Arsenal on Friday (3/12) am, WIB. He did not mention whether he will reserve Ronaldo or not.
