DBasia.news – Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta said his team still needed several more transfer markets to build a quality squad to compete with elite Premier League teams.
Arsenal last won the Premier League in the 2003-2004 season while still being directed by Arsene Wenger. Since the 2015-2016 season they have always failed to finish in the top four. Last season, the Gunners finished only in eighth place, 43 points adrift of champions, Liverpool.
Arteta has had success since being appointed manager of the club in December. He managed to bring Arsenal to win the FA Cup. But Arteta is aware of the challenges faced in restoring the club back to the top flight and a contender in the title race.
“At least it will take some transfer market to do it. To form a team that can compete on the level of certain clubs in this league, which are close to 100 points, it will take time,” Arteta told Sky Sports.
“In football, time is very valuable. If you don’t respect the process and you ask certain people to do certain things without a foundation, that’s really dangerous.”
“We have to prepare for difficult times. We knew it from the start because it was not something that happened just last year. It has happened many years ago,” he added.
Arsenal are currently in 12th place in the standings with a collection of 13 points from nine matches. Sunday (29/11), they will visit Wolverhampton Wanderers headquarters.
