DBasia.news – Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta praised the goalkeeper, Bernd Leno when he appeared against Liverpool in the top 16 of the Premier League Cup, at Anfield, Friday (2/10) am, WIB.
Bernd Leno played brilliantly for Arsenal when against Liverpool. He fired seven shots on target released by Liverpool players.
Two of these brilliant actions were when Leno stopped opportunities for Diogo Jota and Virgil van Dijk. Leno is the first Arsenal goalkeeper to record clean sheets at Anfield since Vito Mannone in September 2012.
Not surprisingly, Mikel Arteta paid tribute to the goalkeeper. According to Arteta, only the best performances can make Arsenal win against Liverpool.
“I am thrilld with this performance. I think the players performed superbly. We corrected a few things from Monday and this is great,” explained Arteta to Sky Sports.
“We competed much better and showed the sharpness we have. Bernd Leno is great. You need the best individual performance to win at Anfield. That’s what we showed tonight.”
“I really believe in Bernd Leno. I know him well and what he can give us.”
Regarding the meeting against Manchester City in the next round, Mikel Arteta did not want to think much of it. “I’m waiting and enjoying this win. We have to play Man City and that’s how it is. There are many strong clubs in the competition, we have to be prepared.”
