Milan Tried to Get Lazio Midfielder
By news-admin
DBasia.news – AC Milan technical director Leonardo claimed Rossoneri won’t be able to get Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Leonardo assumed AC Milan will violate the Financial Fair Play regulation if insisted to bring the player to San Siro.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is one of the brightest Serie A players. Moreover, Europe big clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester United want to get the Serbia national team player.
Meanwhile, from Italy, AC Milan, Juventus, and Inter Milan also compete to get the 23-year-old player. But, AC Milan left the hunt due to the FFP regulation.
“In light of Financial Fair Play we won’t be signing a top midfielder,” Leonardo said at news conference to present Paolo Maldini as sporting strategy and development director.
“If we can find a way – within the rules – to pull off a miracle and sign a player who will bring a lot to the team then we’ll try to do it. But we may not be able to.”
AC Milan are under the supervision of EUFA regarding FPP. Moreover, Il Diavolo Rosso were punished with playing ban in the Europe competition for two seasons. Fortunately, the appeal accepted.
“Milinkovic-Savic is a dream for many teams, unfortunately right now dreaming about a player who is worth so much is not possible for us,” Leonardo added.
“Even a year ago when I was asked to choose one Serie A player [Milan wanted] he was the one I picked. He’s the complete modern midfielder, but it’s not financially possible for us to sign him,” the former Inter Milan coach explained.
