DBasia.news – The new Barcelona midfielder, Miralem Pjanic, has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or the corona virus. Miralem Pjanic had to postpone his departure for Barcelona after testing positive for the corona virus.
Pjanic is one of Barcelona’s new recruits this summer. He was brought in on a player exchange scheme with Arthur Melo.
This news was confirmed directly by Barcelona. However, Pjanic was stated to be in a stable condition.
“Miralem Pjanic tested positive on the PCR results taken on Saturday, August 22, after feeling a little unwell. The player is in good health and is self-isolating at home,” says an official Barcelona statement.
“For this reason, the player will not travel to Barcelona for the next 15 days.”
Previously the Bosnian Herzegovina player was scheduled to take part in Barcelona’s pre-season training at the end of this month. This will also be used as a moment to officially introduce Pjanic.
Pjanic is suspected of being infected with the corona virus while on vacation in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, Italy. This area is indeed one of the most popular holiday destinations and attracts many tourists.
“I want to reassure everyone who cares that I am fine and fortunately I am not showing symptoms. We are calm and respect the rules,” Pjanic wrote on Twitter.
This news is certainly a blow to Barcelona and the new coach, Ronald Koeman. Pjanic’s delay in joining will hinder the preparation of the Blaugrana ahead of entering the new season.
