Modric’s Critic to Ronaldo and Messi Regarding 2018 Ballon d’Or

Luka Modric

DBasia.news – The 2018 Ballon d’Or ceremonial night has over at Grand Palais, Paris. However, the story still persists until now.

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric was chosen as the winner, defeating some other players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Modric’s winning wasn’t surprising considering his achievement this season, delivering Madrid to win the Champions League for three consecutive times. In the national level, the former Tottenham Hotspur player also delivered Croatia to the final round of 2018 World Cup.

Unfortunately, Messi and Ronaldo didn’t attend the event. After his silence, the 31-year-old player raised his voice criticizing both of his colleagues.

“I cannot say why someone did not attend—that’s their choice. That is logical, is it not?” Modric said cited by Goal.

“It turns out … trophies only have value when they get them. It is not fair to their playing colleagues, or to the voters who have nominated them for the past 10 years—nor for football or supporters,” he added.

It’s the first time for Messi to pass the individual awarding night, unlike Ronaldo who also didn’t attend the UEFA Awards and 2018 FIFA Awards.

2018 Ballon d’Or completes Modric individual title this year after chosen as the best in the UEFA Awards and FIFA Awards on September.
