DBasia.news – Naturalised player Mohamadou Sumareh admits he is not disappointed with coach Tan Cheng Hoe’s decision which has yet to give him the opportunity to play with the Harimau Malaya.

The name of the Gambian-born player is not on the list of 24 players called for training sessions and international matches to meet Taiwan in Taipei City on September 7 and Cambodia in Phnom Penh (September 10) in preparation for the AFF Cup.

Many think that Cheng Hoe will test Sumareh who has gained nationality in April after the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) is ready to open the door to naturalised players to represent the national team.

However, for Sumareh, he did not really think about Cheng Hoe’s decision but instead is focused on helping the Tok Gajah squad in the Malaysia Cup.

“I’m not disappointed to not be called in. I respect his decision, he is certain that he has his own reasons, and I’m not waiting to be called and thinking about it, I want to continue playing to help Pahang in the Malaysia Cup.

“I also do not know my real status to play with the national squad because I was never contacted by FAM or coach Tan Cheng Hoe about it, so I can not comment any further. What I know is only from media reports and supporters’ comments on social media,” he said. when contacted by NSTP Sports, today.

On the list are 16 players from the squad that beat Fiji 1-0 at Cheras on July 5 and eight new faces, including Norshahrul Idlan Talaha (Pahang), Farizal Marlias (Johor Darul Ta’zim), Shahrel Fikri Md Fauzi Nakhon Ratchasima), Akhyar Rashid (Kedah) and Nik Akif Shahiran Nik Mat (Kelantan).

However, Sumareh can still look forward to the AFF Cup squad for After Taiwan and Cambodia, Harimau Malaya will meet Sri Lanka in Colombo on October 12, Republic of Kyrgyz at Hang Jebat Stadium (October 16) and Maldives at Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil (November 3 ) in the friendly match.

“Let me be called based on my performance and not of my status as a naturalised player, so I just have to focus on improving my performance with Pahang and let those judge whether I am fit or not,” he said.
