DBasia.news – Egyptian player, Mohamed Elneny, wants to end his career with Arsenal, reportedly the 29-year-old player has just officially extended his contract since joining in 2016.
Elneny became an integral part of Arsenal as he was able to replace the role of Thomas Partey who was injured, and helped the Gunners finish fifth in the English Premier League table in 2021/22.
Without divulging the duration of the signed contract, Arsenal have confirmed Elneny will stay at the club for the new season.
“Midfielder Mohamed [Elneny] has extended his contract with us,” Arsenal said on their official website. “Elneny has been a key member of the squad since joining us from Basel in 2016. He made 147 appearances, scored five goals and contributed 10 assists.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta explained his decision to keep the player: “Elneny is a very important part of the team,” said Arteta. “He brings endless energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the team and is loved by everyone.
“He’s an important player for us on and off the pitch, a real role model for our young players and I’m happy he’s staying.”
Meanwhile, Elneny has expressed his joy in signing a new contract and promises to play the rest of his career at the club.
“I feel like when you play in one of the biggest teams in the world and you have an amazing family and the fans are amazing too, they make me feel special,” said Elneny.
“You feel like you are special to this club and this club is special to you. Of course, I want to stay here until I really finish my career.”
