Moments When Teammates causes a scene in a Match

DBasia.news – Having a disagreement with opponents in moments of the match is a common thing to happen. But what if it involves a teammate, of course it’s unique.

But in fact it had happened. It has infrequently happened in a match in the elite competition.

The tension of the game usually makes players stressed. This makes their emotions easily ignited.

Players with a temperament usually find it difficult to control themselves. It is at times like this that a feud with a teammate is very likely to occur which can lead to a fight.

Here are five cases of feuds involving teammates in a match:

1. Emmanuel Adebayor and Nicklas Bendtner (Arsenal 2008)

Adebayor and Bendtner are both known as troublemakers when playing at Arsenal. Both were involved in a feud when the Gunners were defeated 1-5 by Tottenham Hotspurs in the 2008 League Cup.

The moment occurred when Arsenal were 4-1 behind and was receiving a corner kick. Suddenly the two players were involved in an argument in a close distance.

Luckily both of them was able to be calmed before a fist fights occured. Bendtner claimed his head had been headed by Adebayor.

Reportedly the feud was an accumulation of Adebayor’s annoyance at Bendtner who was younger. The Togolese striker felt his juniors didn’t show respect for the more senior players.

2. Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben (Bayern Munchen 2012)

Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben had also been involved in a feud on the field. It happened when Bayern Munich faced Real Madrid in the first leg of the 2011-2012 Champions League semifinals.

This event was preceded by a debate about who would be the executor of the free kick for Bayern at the end of the first round. Robben asked Ribery to let Toni Kroos execute it.

The debate continued after the first round whistle ended. Robben and Ribery punched each other as they walked towards the locker room before being separated by the other Munchen players.

Ribery reportedly hit Robben’s face which bruised the Dutch winger’s face. He then apologized and was sentenced to a fine.

Interestingly, both players seemed to have no problems when diving in the second half. Munich managed to close the match with a 2-1 victory.

3. Mario Balotelli and Aleksandar Kolarov (Manchester City 2012) Mario Balotelli and Aleksandar Kolarov have also been involved in a feud for scrambling to become the executor of a free kick. The moment occurred when facing Sunderland in the 2011-2012 Premier League.

Manchester City were 1-3 behind Sunderland when the free kick was awarded. Both of them was able to execute it well in order to minimize the lag.

The two players who are known for their temper could have hit each other because of this. Luckily Vincent Kompany as the captain immediately came to reconcile the two to end their feud.

4. Benoit Assou-Ekkoto and Benjamin Moukandjo (Cameroon National Team 2014)

The feud between teammates also occurred at the 2014 World Cup. Two Cameroon players, Benoit Assou-Ekkoto and Benjamin Moukandjo, were the culprits.

The two were caught on camera fighting each other when Cameroon faced Croatia in the group phase. Assou-Ekkoto and Moukandjo appeared frustrated and was unable to control their emotions after losing 0-4 in the match.

5. Kieron Dyer & Lee Bowyer (Newcaste United 2005)

Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer’s feud is arguably the most remembered. It happened while they were defending Newcastle United in 2005.

The feud occurred when Newcastle hosted Aston Villa in the continued Premier League match. Not just fighting an argument, Bowyer and Dyer had hit each other in the field.

Ironically this moment occured when the game was running. No doubt, both of them were immediately rewarded a red card by the referee.

Some time later, Dyer admitted that the fight was caused by him He mocked Bowyer and was reluctant to pass the ball to him.

But Dyer and Bowyer had forgotten the incident. The relationship between the two is now much better.
