Monaco Continues the Positive Trend
By db-admin
DBasia.news – AS Monaco continued the positive trend by smothering their guests Brest 4-1 in the eighth match of the French League.
The result was the victory of the two teams made by Leonardo Jardim who had to wait until the seventh match to win their first three points this season.
Confidence in the inaugural victory in the midweek schedule seems to still be felt by Monaco players who appeared aggressively since the beginning of the game although the initial opportunities of Islam Slimani and Wissam Ben Yedder was still to be secured by goalkeeper, Gautier Larsonneur.
After three chances passed without results, Ben Yedder finally opened Monaco’s lead in the 26th minute through a close-range effort to finish Slimani’s header and the score of 1-0 lasted until the first half ended.
Monaco continued to pressure their visitors and in the 61st minute, Ben Yedder was brought down by substitute goalkeeper, Donovan Leon, who had only arrived three minutes to replace the injured Larsonneur, inside the restricted area so the referee awarded a penalty for the hosts.
Slimani executed the penalty by throwing the ball into the upper left corner of the goal in order to double the benefits of Monaco.
Winning two goals did not relax Monaco’s attacking power until Slimani released a breakthrough pass which was successfully completed well by Gelson Martins to increase the lead over Brest to 3-0 in the 73rd minute.
In the 77th minute, Alexandre Mendy scored for Brest by completing Julien Faussurier’s cross in order to minimize the falling behind of the visitors 1-3. Right at the end of normal time, Keita Balde Diao ensured Monaco’s 4-1 victory through his goal.
