Monaco End the Fasting of Victory

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  AS Monaco finally won the inaugural victory in the French League this season by beating OGC Nice 3-1 in their seventh week of action at Louis II Stadium.

The first three points made by Leonardo Jardim’s team were booked thanks to Aleksandr Golovin’s brace and one other goal from Wissam Ben Yedder who can only be rewarded by Nice through Patrick Burner.

The result also brought Monaco to leave the relegation zone and is now temporarily ranked 17th with a collection of six points, while Nice (12) must be willing to be displaced to fourth place.

After Gil Dias ‘shot hit the goalpost only in the 25th minute, Monaco finally opened the lead four minutes later when the corner kick was ended with a Golovin shot nested into the top right corner of the visitors’ goal.

Islam Slimani had a chance to celebrate after netting Nice on goal again in the 31st minute, but two minutes later his goal was disallowed by VAR because Gelson Martins was first in the offside position in the attack process.

Monaco’s superiority lasted until halftime but was wiped out in the 54th minute when the corner kick was successfully used by Burner to outwit goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte and bring Nice to equalize 1-1.

Luckily for Monaco, they were back ahead in the 75th minute through a fast attack that ended with Slimani’s mature pass to finish Golovin’s second goal of the match.

Ben Yedder, who had just entered in the 60th minute replacing Jean-Kevin Augustin, succeeded in increasing Monaco’s advantage to 3-1 in the 80th minute taking advantage of Golovin’s delivery.
