Monterrey vs Liverpool, Flamengo vs Asian Champions League in the Club World Cup Semifinals

DBasia.news –  The semifinal round of the 2019 Inter-Club World Cup will begin on Wednesday-Thursday (18-19) December 2019. In the match, there are four teams, namely Liverpool, Flamengo, Al-Hilal, and Monterrey who will compete for the 2019 World Inter-Club World Cup title.

Copa Libertadores champion, Flamengo, will challenge the Asian champions (Asian Champions League), Al-Hilal, at the Khalifa International Stadium on Wednesday (12/18) at 00.30 am Western Indonesian Time. Razvan Lucesco’s Al-Hilal previously won over ES Tunis.

While in the next match, Monterrey will compete against the European Champions League winner, Liverpool, at Education City Stadium on Thursday (12/19) at 00.30 AM Western Indonesian Time. Monterrey previously eliminated the home team, Al-Sadd.

Al-Sadd, directed by Xavi Hernandez, defeated 2-3 from Monterrey at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Sunday (12/15). Monterrey excelled quickly 2-0 via goals from Leonel Vangioni (23′) and Rogelio Funes Mori (45 + 1′) but were held to a 2-2 draw when Baghdad Bounedjah (66′) and Abdelkarim Hassan (89′) scored.

13 minutes before the match ended, Monterrey scored the decisive winner with a goal scored by Carlos Alberto Rodriguez Gomes. Monterrey loses possession 37 to 63 percent, but playing effectively converts chances into goals.

Against Liverpool, Hector Hugo Eugui, a former Monterrey manager, has the confidence gained from fans that their beloved team can beat Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.

“Monterrey fans are confident they can win against Liverpool. They have a strong team that is in a positive performance and period,” Eugui said, quoted by Bleacher Report.

“They know Liverpool have a very good team with footballers, and a great manager, Jurgen Klopp from Germany. He makes the team play very well, but the Monterrey fans are always enthusiastic. Realistically, the chance of (winning) Monterrey is small, but you never know.”
