DBasia.news – Liverpool have reportedly become the latest club to join the hunt for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
Haaland continued his scintillating form last season by scoring 11 goals in his first seven games in all competitions for Dortmund this term. The Norwegian forward has become one of the hottest topics in European football since his impressive showing with RB Salzburg in 2019 before joining Dortmund.
This summer Dortmund managed to keep Haaland, despite interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea. Later Chelsea ended their interest after signing Romelu Lukaku.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool are now the latest to enter the race for the 21-year-old striker. Haaland is believed to be an attractive prospect for a club who are interested in his release clause dropping to 90 million euros by the end of June.
Dortmund know they will face an uphill task to retain Haaland next year, although they are not completely ruling out that the player will extend his stay at Signal Iduna Park.
“Of course it will be difficult to keep him. But I’m not saying that it’s impossible,” said Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke.
“We will do everything we can to keep our top players loyal to us in the future.”
Haaland’s name soared after scoring 29 goals in 27 games for RB Salzburg. Haaland’s productivity has continued since moving to Germany, scoring 68 goals in 67 games in all competitions.
On the international scene, Haaland has established himself on the international stage, scoring 12 goals in 15 appearances for Norway.
