DBasia.news – Once again, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho releases a surprising statement. He admits that he doesn’t really understand the offensive strategy. According to The Special One, the defense is the key for a team to win the match.
But, not everyone favors Mourinho’s strategy. They said that Manchester United is known for the offensive philosophy since the era of Sir Alex Ferguson. But, Mourinho has his own framework.
“That story of the attacking football – I still don’t understand that story,” Mourinho said ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Chelsea. Because for me you can only play attacking football when you have the ball. You need the ball. When the opposition has the ball you have to defend,” Mourinho said reported by Goal.
“I want my team when the opponent has the ball, I want the ball. And you can only recover the ball if your opponent loses or if you recover or if you provoke a mistake in your opponent,” the manager continued.
“When you have the ball you can play a different way and normally adapted to the qualities of your players. That is what I want. We try (to play that way). The key is for the players to be able to do it.”
Manchester United will play against difficult team next week. Paul Pogba and friends will play against Juventus in the Champions League match. After that, it’s Everton’s turn to be the away team.
