DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho admitted he was surprised his team could swallow a 1-0 defeat to Southampton in the Week 21 English Premier League match at St. Mary’s.
“For me, this was a strange match, because they didn’t cause too many problems for our defense,” Mourinho said.
“They only fired two or three shots and scored, whereas we didn’t,” he added.
Complementing the strangeness that occurred in the match, Mourinho also made his unique behavior when deliberately peering notes on the Southampton coach staff who ended a yellow card from referee Mike Dean.
Mourinho also has no problem disallowing the equalizing goal scored by Harry Kane, because the Tottenham mainstay striker was caught offside.
“Once again, the offside verdict is indeed the case. But we have several opportunities in the first round and a few more in the second round,” he said.
Kane also considered Mourinho’s injury to be another problem in the match, because with the absence of Son Heung-min who was serving a match ban due to a practical red card Tottenham had no equal replacement on the bench.
