DBasia.news – Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer defended his team’s defeat to Crystal Palace. He considered that his team has had a tight preparation, so its understandable that they did not appear convincingly.
The Red Devils debut at the EPL 2020/21 was officially tarnished. After Crystal Palace humiliated them at Old Trafford with a score of 3-1.
In this match, United did not play well. The Red Devils made unnecessary mistakes so Palace managed to steal a goal from them.
Solskjaer said that his team’s poor performance was due to tight preparation times. “We had a long season last season, where our matches were not finished until August 16,” explained Solskjaer to the Manchester Evening News.
According to Solskjaer, three weeks to prepare his team for a competitive match was not easy.
Moreover, he said the players were incomplete because there were those who had to strengthen their respective national teams.
“We don’t have much time to prepare ourselves to be sharp. We are working hard with all the players who are currently there, and some of them were absent for the national team.”
Solskjaer said that Palace has managed to win because their preparation was more mature. However, he considered that United’s performance had actually started to improve.
“I spoke with Roy [Hodgson, manager of Palace], and he said that his team had already had four friendly matches, and this was their third competitive match.”
“This situation is a big difference with our test against Aston Villa last week. We have to catch up, and we have started to show that.” he said.
Manchester United have been waiting for a match in the middle of this week. They are scheduled to face Luton Town on Wednesday (23/9) am.
