Newcastle and Sheffield Rises from Lagging

DBasia.news –  Newcastle United and Sheffield United both revived from being left behind to secure three points from their respective matches in Week 16 of the Premier League match, Sunday.

Hosting Southampton at James’ Park, Newcastle were left behind due to Danny Ings who scored in the 52nd minute, according to the official English League page.

Attacking midfielder, Jonjo Shelvey ,first equalized in the 68th minute with his header welcoming Andy Carroll’s cross.

The goal marked Shelvey’s success to register his name on the scoreboard in the last three matches with Newcastle in the English League.

In the 75th minute, Southampton almost restored the lead, but Ryan Bertrand’s header failed to become a goal.

The failure was paid by the visitors, as three minutes before normal time ended, a crisis in front of Southampton’s goal was successfully used by Federico Fernandez to bring Newcastle back to secure a 2-1 victory.

The victory successfully catapulted Newcastle’s position to 10th place standings with 22 points, while Southampton (15) are stuck in the relegation zone.

In another match that took place simultaneously at Carrow Road, Sheffield also managed to rise from their lag to beat hosts, Norwich City with a final score of 2-1.

Norwich actually had a chance to score through Alexander Tettey who took advantage of the crisis in front of the visitors’ goal in the 27th minute.

Four minutes after halftime, Sheffield managed to equalize when George Baldock’s cross was headed by Enda Stevens.

Then three minutes later Baldock brought Sheffield back to take the lead, the 2-1 score was successfully defended until the fight was over.

The result ensures Sheffield to keep their undefeated record in away games this season.

Sheffield are also now up to eighth place with a collection of 22 points, while Norwich (11) is still rooted to second place from the bottom aka 19th position.
