DBasia.news – Newcastle United are reportedly interested in bringing Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho into the transfer market next season. Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo also reported that Rafael Benitez’s club had prepared a negotiation proposal to bring the Brazilian player.
The newspaper even stated that Newcastle, who in the coming weeks hoped to complete its acquisition by Saudi financiers, wanted Mauricio Pochettino, who had handled Coutinho in Espanyol, to replace current coach Steve Bruce.
The report also said that Pochettino and also former Newcastle coach Rafael Benitez, who was re-recruited if Pochettino was unsuccessful, had given Coutinho’s purchase agreement.
Bayern Munich, which is currently where Coutinho plays on loan from Barcelona for one season, has an option to buy 120 million euros but has said he will not activate the option.
Barcelona has said it will sell the former Liverpool star this year to raise money. Coutinho himself prefers to return to England rather than being released to Inter Milan or Paris Saint-Germain.
The Brazilian has created 21 goals in 76 plays for Barcelona after being bought for 160 million euros from Liverpool in January 2018.
