DBasia.news – Chelsea have confirmed that midfielder N’Golo Kante will be out for four months after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury.
Kante suffered a hamstring injury during the Blues’ 2-2 Premier League draw against Tottenham Hotspur. The London club have now confirmed the midfielder has had successful surgery on the injury and is expected to be out for four months.
Kante has yet to feature under new manager Graham Potter and will not play again in 2022. The injury also means he will miss the 2022 World Cup with the French national team.
The 31-year-old player now faces an uncertain future as his contract expires at the end of the 2022/23 season and it remains to be seen if he will be offered a new contract by the club.
“The midfielder visited a specialist with the club’s medical department to explore options for his rehabilitation approach and it was mutually agreed for N’Golo to undergo surgery to repair the damage,” a club statement read.
“Following a successful operation, N’Golo is now expected to be out for four months.”
Kante will not only miss the World Cup but most of the season for Chelsea.
Kante has barely featured for Chelsea so far in the 2022/23 season and may face a battle for playing times when he returns to full fitness.
